This Privacy Policy describes how I, Vivienne van Zyl (“I”, “me”, “my”), a self-employed professional based in Mauritius, collect, use, protect, and manage your personal data. I comply with the Data Protection Act 2017 (“DPA”) of Mauritius and, where relevant, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

I am the Data Controller for the personal data I process. My business is registered at Riverland Sports Club, Tamarin, Mauritius and the website address is http://www.optimalfunction.net. You can contact me using the details in Section 15.

If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit my login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies will be set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

10. Retention of Data

I keep your personal data only as long as needed for the purposes listed, or as required by law (e.g., for tax or accounting).

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

An anonymized string created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

For users that register on the website (if any), I store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
